Brussels, 5th July, 2023 – The director of the Brussels office of the Fundación Galicia Europa, Ana Ramos, opened the fifth meeting of the year of the “FGE | NextGeneratiOn Galicia” cycle, the monthly discussion forum in which the Xunta and the European institutions exchange information on European policies with the greatest impact on Galicia. The meeting, dedicated to addressing the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council, was attended by Juan Francisco Hernández Alfaro, Minister of Territorial Policy at the Spanish Representation to the EU.
During the meeting, the report on Galicia’s priorities for the Spanish Presidency, prepared by the FGE in collaboration with all the departments of the Xunta de Galicia, was also presented. After being validated by the Consello de la Xunta, this document was sent to the Ministry of Territorial Policy in April within the framework of the working group established for the involvement of the autonomous communities in the preparation of this Presidency. The report was also presented during the first semester meeting of 2023 of the Board of Trustees of the Galicia Europa Foundation.
The report on Galicia’s priorities for the Spanish presidency was prepared by the FGE and sent to the Spanish government in April.
The document describes Galicia’s action in 16 key areas with the aim of contributing to the exploratory discussions to be organized within the framework of the Presidency. In some cases, express reference is made to legislative dossiers under negotiation in order to inform on Galicia’s position, without prejudice to the fact that this position will be conveyed through the usual channels: institutional (Council, European Committee of the Regions) or informal, through its representative office in Brussels (Fundación Galicia Europa).
