— Since it was launched in September 2020, this initiative has hosted more than 500 Galician civil servants in its forty sessions.
Brussels, 23rd of April 2024. The director of the Brussels office of Fundación Galicia Europa, Galicia’s regional delegation, opened the second meeting of 2024 of the cycle ‘Online meetings Xunta-UE’, the debate forum between the Galician government and the EU institutions that has already hosted more than 500 attendees. The session served, not only to evaluate the work programme of the European Commission – marked by six priorities aimed at achieving a greener, digital and social European Union -, but also to analyse the future institutional cycle, which will begin in June with the elections to the European Parliament.
Sonia Vila, head of the unit responsible for IDEA, the advisory centre of the President of the European Commission, was the speaker of the session. She focused on the priorities of the next European political agenda, which is fundamental for framing Galicia’s interests and the work carried out by the regional government at the European level.
One of the objectives of Fundación Galicia Europa is precisely the defence of Galician interests before the European institutions, as the representative of the Galician government in Brussels. In order to illustrate the activities it carries out, its action plan for 2024 was presented, a document that reflects the priority issues for Galicia that have the contributions of our region during the European debate.
Online meetings between Galicia’s government and EU institutions
The series of ‘Online meetings Xunta-UE’ brings together the Galician administration with representatives of the EU institutions to jointly address the policies promoted by the European Union. Organised by Fundación Galicia Europa since September 2020, it encourages debate on a multitude of issues on the EU agenda of relevance to Galicia, such as the European Industrial Strategy, the Green Pact and the regulatory framework for state aid.
