The director of the Brussels office of the Galicia Europa Foundation, Ana Ramos, opened this morning the fifth meeting of the year of the FGE | NextGeneratiOn Galicia cycle, the monthly discussion forum, in which the Xunta and the European Commission exchange information on EU policies with the greatest impact for Galicia.
The director underlined the need to foster the participation and commitment of all stakeholders, including the regions, to achieve a successful digital transformation. For this reason, Galicia has already launched its Digital Strategy for 2030, which configured it as a digital region of reference in Europe. Ana Ramos also highlighted the actions contemplated in the Strategy for the transformation of Galicia, aimed at boosting the adoption of disruptive technologies, the implementation of the digital skills framework or the digitisation of the Galician public administration.
Following his speech, a representative of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technologies addressed the challenges of the EU’s digital transformation, considered a cornerstone of the EU architecture for the coming years. To achieve this purpose, the European Commission presented, in March 2021, its “Digital Compass”, setting out the EU’s digital ambitions up to 2030, based on four pillars: skilled workforce, physical infrastructure, digitisation of public services and digital transformation of businesses. This will be accompanied by targeted investments supported by EU budgetary instruments such as the Structural Funds or the Digital Europe Programme.
