Brussels, September 20th 2023. The European Week of Regions and Cities (#EURegionsWeek) is facing its 21st edition, which will take between the 9th and the 12th of October. Among the over 300 events of the programme that will take place in Brussels this 2023, there are two seminars organised by the Fundación Galicia Europa (FGE).
Both will be held during the morning session on Tuesday the 10th. The first of them, on the role of the regions in the development of artificial intelligence, will begin at 9:30 am. It will be followed at 11:30am by the second event, designed to project the future of industry in Galicia within the framework of the green and digital model.
Galicia will also be represented at another event, this time an initiative of the Covenant of Mayors. Designed to show how thousands of European cities have been mobilised towards the objectives of energy and climate transition, it will be attended by the Xunta’s Director General for Climate Change, Sagrario Pérez Castellanos.
Participation in these seminars, all of them face-to-face, requires prior registration through the official website of the European Week of Regions and Cities. The registration process is open to all audiences.
Regional artificial intelligence
In a context where artificial intelligence is constantly changing the way society lives and interacts, the EU institutions are working to create a legal framework to ensure its compatibility with fundamental rights.
In order to clarify the role of the regions in the development of this new legal framework, the Fundación Galicia Europa has organised a seminar during the European Week of Regions and Cities. Its speakers, representatives of the European Committee of the Regions, the Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU and the Xunta, moderated by the Agency for the Technological Modernisation of Galicia (AMTEGA), will discuss how to ensure that AI produced at regional level complies with European regulations.
- Date: October 10th between 9:30h and 10:30h.
- Location: Square Brussels Meeting Centre, Copper Hall
- Event code: 10WS23244.
Galicia’s role in the industry of the future
To face the changes that will affect industry and its workers in the next decade, Galicia is working to boost its regional economy to adapt to the green and digital models. The coordination of the different sectoral strategies, the dialogue with the actors involved and the promotion of public-private collaboration are some of the steps to be taken.
These and many other issues related to the Galician industry of the future will be the subject of the seminar organised by the Fundación Galicia Europa as part of the EU Regions Talks.
- Date: October 10th between 11:30h and 11:45h.
- Location: Square Brussels Meeting Centre, Agora 1.
